Beth Huffines, Librarian & Director,
I was born and raised in Roodhouse. My husband Charlie and our three children T.J., Cody, and Lauren moved back here about eleven years ago from St. Louis, Mo. We wanted our children to grow up in a small town. My parents are Merle and Delores Harp. I attended Lewis & Clark College, SIU-E and have spent many hours in the classroom getting continuing education credits. Most recently I attended the Small Public Library Management Instute at the University Illinois Springfield campus. It is an intensive week long course where we learned everything from how to use puppets to engage children in reading, to library law. The Roodhouse Public Library was where I spent alot of time growing up, I loved reading and in the summer I could always be found with a book . I have passed the love of reading on to my children, just as my mother did for me. When I call the library "our" library thats what I mean, it belongs to everyone and I hope you love it as much as I do.
Come and see me and see how our library has changed over the years. Sue the librarian before me made a lot of positive changes and I hope that I can carry on where she left off.
Carole Wells, assistant librarian.
Carole is the wife of Russell and a resident of Barrow. She has spent many years working in the library and fills in when Beth is unable to be here. Carole will also be helping out on Mondays, they seem to be our busiest days. Carole is very knowledgable and can help with a lot of your questions and problems, just ask .
